Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism

With the help of your textbook and Ch 23, please explain the differences among capitalism, socialism and communism. Then explain the pros and cons that each hold. Due Friday April 1st.

Capitalism allows people to own and operate their own businesses. It is really the person's choice. One pro of this is that government is involved very limitedly and people can do what they want to do. One con is that there really is no line about what you can and cannot do.

Socialism is where there is group ownership in a business. One pro is that multiple people benifit and the government has a little more control. One con is that there isn't as much competition.

Communism is when the government is in complete control. This can be good in that everything should be fair. It can also be bad because people don't really get to choose what they want to do and how they do it.

Other Countries' Government Systems

1.  Pick two countries in Chapter 22 and provide an in depth paragraph on their government and how it operates.
Great Britain-
The British people have an unwritten constitution that is basically a set of guidelines to follow. They also are a monachy and have a hereditary ruler. Their Parliament consists of The House of Lords, The House of Commons, The Prime Minister, and the Cabinet. Like us, each group, or person has their own objective if you will of what needs to be done and how to do it.
Mexico made a new constitution in 1917. They have 3 branches of government like we do. They include the President, The General Congress, and The Court System. They also each have separate roles. They have a PRI.
3. What are some of the similarities of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
Most of the countries realize that government is only affective if they each do their job to help the others.

What are some of the differences of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
One difference is how many groups of people are involved in the government. Another difference is how the leader is chosen, whether they are voted for or if they inherit it.

4. Which country in Chapter 22 do you believe has the strongest government and why?
I think that the strongest government is Great Britain. They are mostly like us in the aspect that they vote, and are free to make their own opinions known.

5. In what ways does the U.S. government relate to the methods of governments listed in Chapter 22?
We are free to make our own decisions as to what we think is the best for our country. We can also vote for our people and it is ran fairly smoothly
